Places To Go
The Places To Go program is designed to promote the independence of each person by allowing them to experience different types of recreation and thereby discover the unique needs, wants and talents that define individualism in all of us. The program is open to all individuals referred from the Regional Center, and also serves transitional individuals from the Transition Learning Center and High School at the discretion of the Regional Center, which helps to further the goal of “seamless transition” from school to adult services as well, introducing younger individuals to more diverse age groups and an adult service organization. Integrating High School and Transition age students as a way to educate them in the social arena, which most often happens after school hours, to help them to enjoy healthy and active social lives.
The Places To Go program provides access to an array of new experiences and community activities which provides individuals the opportunity to discover what interests them most and what they would like to pursue as a potential hobby or avocation in the future, as well as access and interaction with members of the general public who share a passion for the same activity or event.
The hours and days of the week the program operates within are completely dependent upon choices made by the individual. The program is administered and staffed with enough flexibility to provide support for the individual whenever necessary, depending upon the activity selected by the individual. In some cases this includes night time, weekend and holiday support. Other times it includes daytime, week day support. Through the Covid-19 pandemic, the program services have been provided in a blend of Alternative and Traditional methods, based on individual preference of each program participant.
Try something new; share your ideas and dream up an activity you would like to see or participate in. We are here to support your choices!
