In addition to employing qualified people, there are also many tax credits and wage reimbursement incentives.
One of our employment programs is called The Job Connection. The Job Connection serves individuals with with disabilities and also supports their employers. The support provided is goal oriented, and based on a plan that the individual generates. This plan is updated semi-annually and outlines how that person would like to see their career develop through identifying long-term and short-term goals.
The Job Connection provides Skill Development and Employment Preparation services before an individual is employed. Staff can help our job candidates through the application process by helping prepare for interviews, make resumes, and fill out applications. Vocational Assessment is used to identify skills and strengths in order to assist people in choosing vocational goals.
Community Integrated Employment is defined as inclusive employment in businesses in the community. A job developer works with job candidates and local businesses to cultivate jobs that match a person's preferences and abilities with employer’s needs. Although our job candidates become employees of these businesses, an important part of our service is to provide a long-term Job Coach, paid for by Parents and Friends. PFI facilitates job training and helps the employee, co-workers, and supervisors build and maintain solid working relationships through natural supports. The Job Connection provides on-going support for as long as needed. As the employment partnership becomes successful, the coaching support can decrease over time.
The Job Connection are CARF accredited services. CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) is an international non-profit organization providing accreditation services for health and human services agencies. CARF accreditation signals a service provider's commitment to continually improving services, encouraging feedback, and serving the community. Parents and Friends, Inc. proudly earned the highest level of accreditation in 2013 and again in 2016 and 2019.
